Cyber Security Company is now alarming the other companies to pay attention from the day of January 14th, 2020. Microsoft will withdraw support for the Windows 7 operating system from this day. That means security patches to these systems will no longer be available.

According to Cyber Security Agency, about 35 percent of personal computers still use Windows 7 software. These systems will no longer be secure from cyberattacks from January 14th. Released in 2009, Windows 7 has become the most used operating system worldwide.

Despite the release of the Windows 8 in 2012 and Windows 10 in 2015, the Windows 7 remained the most used operating system until 2019. Windows 7 has been quite popular among IT departments and personal computers.

Eyal Gruner, the founder and, CEO of Cynet says- ‘It’s a critical challenge for many organizations. The reality is that Windows 7 is alive and kicking in many organizations even if Microsoft chooses not to protect them anymore. It should be a wake-up call to any CISO to ask himself or herself how to adjust to this new reality’.

A system using the Windows 7 version, from this day will face higher security risks. No more software updates will be available and performance quality will also decrease gradually.

As reported in 2016-17, about 65 percent of the companies were victims of cyberattacks. Half of these attacks were successful and some of the operations failed.

Why Microsoft ended support for Windows 7?

Windows 10 support is expected to withdraw in the year 2026.
